Per quanto ti possa sembrare strano ci sono forti somiglianze tra il lavoro in un
terminal e Internet: al terminal scarichiamo e carichiamo milioni di container,
sul WEB vengono caricati e scaricati milioni di contenuti; download (scaricare),
upload (caricare), sono i termini tecnici che definiscono queste
operazioni nel mondo digitale, unload (scaricare) e load (carica-
re) sono invece i termini che definiscono queste operazioni in un
terminal container.
Sul WEB viaggiano video, documenti, immagini, musica; nei con-
tainer viaggiano gli smartphone, i lettori, le macchine fotografiche
ed i PC che usiamo per creare e navigare il mare digitale.
Anche il Diario di Contship è su Internet e per festeggiare il 10°
anno del progetto Porto Lab abbiamo creato un nuovo sito con
sezioni dedicate ai bambini, agli insegnanti, ai partner ed al quale
tutti voi potrete contribuire con le vostre esperienze, potrete scari-
care materiale didattico e stringere amicizia con gli alunni di altre
scuole, magari distanti centinaia e centinaia di chilometri da voi!
Osserva i simboli che ti mostro in fondo alla pagina. Si tratta di QRC,
ovvero Quick Response Code, una sorta di “codice segreto” che, se inquadrato
con uno smartphone o un tablet, ti permetterà di accedere al sito Porto Lab (su smartphone e
tablet deve essere installato un programma, gratuito, per la lettura dei codici QR).
However strange it may seem, there are strong similarities between how a terminal works and how the internet works:
at the terminal millions of containers are loaded and unloaded, and millions of files are uploaded and downloaded on
the internet. Upload and download are the technical terms that describe these operations in the digital world, whilst
load and unload are the terms that describe operations in a container terminal.
Videos, documents, pictures and music travel on the internet, and smartphones, readers, cameras and PCs, which
create and navigate the digital ocean, travel in containers.
Also the Contship Diary is on the Internet and to celebrate the 10th year of the project Porto Lab we have created
a new site with sections devoted to children, teachers, partners and to which all of you can contribute your experi-
ences, you can download material teaching and make friends with students from other schools, perhaps hundreds
and hundreds of miles away from you!
Look at the symbols in the bottom of this page. These are QRCs, or Quick Response Codes, a kind of "secret code"
that, when scanned with a smartphone or a tablet, allows you to access content on the Porto Lab website (to scan the
code, you have to install an app on your phone or tablet; the app is usually free).
