DO SPACE ROCKETS TAKE THE TRAIN?
There’s a space rocket and a container, which of the two will get
on a train?
Would it not be the container? Of course it’s the container.
These steel containers can be loaded onto wagons and transported
by rail to their final destination. This is what happens every day at
the Melzo container terminal (Milan, Italy), where 40 containers
set off for the Rotterdam container terminal in Northern Europe,
travelling for more than 1000 kilometres on rail tracks.
But even though it seems incredible, sometimes space rockets get
the train too. The American space organisation NASA has a private
railway (measuring 61 kilometres long), which is used to move
rocket parts within the Kennedy Space Center.
