Sustainable energy, something else in common with space.
The production of sustainable energy i.e. coming from renewable
sources (such as wind or the Sun) is a priority in space and at the
Contship terminals.
In space the most accessible source is solar energy, which is
captured by panels on the outside of satellites and space stations
and transformed into electricity. Contship also uses photovoltaic
panels in its Melzo terminal, to produce electricity and power
the lights in the yards. LED lights are used, similar to those at
the Ravenna terminal, which consume less energy and effectively
contribute to reducing CO
2
emissions.
