SOME FORCE IS ALWAYS NEEDED
An engine and fuel is needed for both a spaceship to take off and
for a container ship to set sail, and given the size of the vehicles
involved, a large engine and a lot of fuel will be needed. The real
issue is that rockets often use highly toxic products to fuel the
engines, and even though ship’s fuel doesn’t reach these hazardous
levels, their engines still burn diesel which is highly polluting
for the environment. However aerospace and naval engineers are
working to solve the problem and, with ships in particular, they are
developing engines that run on liquefied natural gas (LNG). Not
only is this more efficient, it will also enable an 80% reduction
in harmful emissions going into the atmosphere.
